"Stress-Free Property Management"
With property investment on the rise in Fort Frances, Northern Sky Solutions needed to set themselves apart in the Property Management marketplace. As a quickly growing business, they started expanding their services into Investment Opportunities, highlighting regional properties to outside investors, and offering Maintenance Services for local homeowners.
Owner, Kaleb, referred to us by a strategic partner, was originally looking for website development to expand the business online. During our initial conversation we discovered the business was solely built around word of mouth, with limited social media inquiries, and he wanted to increase accessibility.
Kaleb also brought up that he wanted to develop the business brand into something visually recognizable across all mediums, but was unsure what steps to take to get started. His biggest ‘want’ for the brand was for it to convey a sense of trust and loyalty, while paying homage to his family’s First Nations heritage.
In the initial branding design talks with Kaleb, we established that the icon of the logo design should be some form of a Thunderbird symbol, and looking ahead to new marketing efforts, would also need to be usable as a stand-alone element. Ensuring both text and icon elements were strong on their own, while creating a unified look when combined, was key to the success of this brand identity.
A key takeaway from the design discovery process: Kaleb wanted to ensure that a “family first” focus was visually communicated. As Northern Sky Solutions works directly with families, it was important to communicate a stress-free experience in all the local public marketing and social media materials. To establish a proper tone through our mood boards, we featured photography of happy children and families spending time together.
The chevrons developed in the logo were extracted to become part of the brand’s visual identity and overall design language.
While local social media, print, and signage marketing focused on families, the property management website design needed to cater more towards the professional clientele of Rental Property Owners, Property Investors, and existing Homeowners. We prioritized usability, information flow, and content hierarchy to help different user sets navigate to the relevant pages quickly and easily. The final website design used both custom photography and stock photos to highlight and illustrate key points of information.
To further address the needs of different visitors, Calls to Action were designed and strategically placed on key pages to drive prospects to one of multiple funnel pages. Those looking for Real Estate Investments were sent to a form, initiating a qualification process, while those interested in Rental Units were directed to an application form.
Starting with a blank slate, we began content development by asking a series of questions to identify key information that website visitors would need to know about the business, its services, and its benefits. This process was expanded to determine frequently asked client questions / concerns, and provide direction for preparing relevant messaging to communicate with the primary market. The collected core details gave us a foundation for designing an information hierarchy and sitemap.
Knowing that Northern Sky Solutions was connecting with a diverse demographic, we determined that a focus on ‘stress-free property management’, would allow us to develop all the website content in a way that was friendly, approachable, yet professional in tone.
